Manila, Aug 17th 2018

Malacañang have released the list of regular holidays and special (non-working) days for the year 2019.

The Palace said based on Proclamation No. 555, the following days are the regular holidays and special (non-working) days for 2019.

Employees who work on regular holidays are supposed to be paid 200 percent of their regular salary.

On special (non-working) days, employees who go to work are supposed to get an additional 30 percent of their daily pay.

As the dates for Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha depend on the lunar calendar, the Palace said, "the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos shall inform the Office of the President of the actual dates on which these holidays shall respectively fall." To help with planning, we show the anticipated world-wide dates for these holidays in 2019.

As usual planning ahead and using your annual holiday allowance to create long weekends is an efficient way to extend the public holidays. In 2019, the dates of the holidays create five long weekends. These are Edsa People Power Revolution Anniversary (Monday 25 February), Holy Week (April 18 to 21), National Heroes Day (Monday 26 August), All Saints' Day (Friday 1 November) and finally Rizal Day (Monday 30 December) and New Year's Eve (Tuesday 31 December).

Chinese New Year will be a Special (Non-Working) Day on Tuesday 5 February, so using taking the Monday before from your holiday allowance will create a four-day weekend.
