A public holiday was declared in Kabul for Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's inauguration on Monday March 9th 2020.
Afghanistan's election commission named Ghani the winner of the September presidential contest, with just enough of the vote to avoid a second round. His main rival, Abdullah Abdullah, declared the results fraudulent and claimed victory and held his own inauguration on the same day.
