A one-time public holiday to mark Queen Salote College’s 100th anniversary.

The Tongan Government have announced a special public holiday for Thursday March 12th 2026 to mark the significant 100th anniversary of Queen Salote College.

The Cabinet made the decision during a meeting, declaring Thursday 12 March a one-time public holiday for 2026.

In a statement today, the Prime Minister’s Office said the decision forms part of the Government’s efforts to recognise important national events in Tonga’s history.

A morning parade and decorated floats by alumni will take place as part of the planned programme marking the historic 100th anniversary.

In the same celebratory spirit, groups of former students from different generations have been arriving at Fua’amotu International Airport to welcome fellow alumni and their families travelling from overseas to attend the celebrations.

Preparations for the college’s 100-year anniversary are well underway, with students, parents, former students and FWC members excited for the upcoming four-day celebration.
