The Thai Cabinet has officially approved October 16th 2026, as a special public holiday in Bangkok. This decision aims to facilitate traffic management and enhance security during the significant IMF-World Bank meeting scheduled for that time.
The meetings of the multinational finance bodies are scheduled to take place from Oct 12–18 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.
Oct 16, which falls on a Friday, will be a special public holiday, while from Monday to Thursday (Oct 12-15), agencies in the capital will be asked to adopt work-from-home measures, government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek said on Tuesday.
State enterprises, financial institutions, schools and businesses near the meeting venue are requested to take appropriate measures based on their operational needs, Ms Rachada said.
