Qatar’s former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has died at the age of 74, the country’s Amiri Diwan said.
The Amiri Diwan announced a four-day period of public mourning in Qatar for the late HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, beginning Sunday, July 12th 2026.
Government ministries, agencies and public institutions will suspend work from Monday, July 13th with employees returning on Sunday, July 19th Flags across the country will be flown at half-mast during the mourning period.
