The Government of Sindh has officially declared Saturday, February 7th, 2026, as a Public Holiday across the province. This holiday is in observance of the Urs of Sufi Saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
All government offices, autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the provincial government will remain closed, with the exception of essential services.
2025
The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on February 19th 2025 in observance of the annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
According to a notification issued by the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department, the holiday will be observed on Wednesday, February 1th9, in celebration of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar's Urs.
The notification states that all government and semi-government offices, as well as educational institutions, will remain closed on the specified day.
Usman Marwandi, popularly known as Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, was a 13th century Sufi saint and poet who is revered in South Asia. Born in Marwand, Sistan, Lal Shahbaz Qalandar eventually settled in Sindh and is revered by the local Sindhi population.
