July 31st - August 1st 2023

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has announced a two-day holiday in the federal capital from July 31st to August 1st 2023, in the federal capital on account of the foreign delegation visit.

The Chinese Vice Premier is anticipated to visit to celebrate the ten-year mark of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), diplomatic sources told Mettis Link News.

Chief Commissioner ICT made the announcement through an official notice.

“A foreign delegation is going to visit Islamabad from July 30 to August 01, 2023,” the notice reads. 

It further states that the decision of holidays aims to ensure that the visit is conducted in a befitting manner and foolproof security is provided throughout the duration of the delegation’s stay.

The approval for the holiday on 31st July and 1st August was given by the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad.

February 23rd 2023: Islamabad

The federal capital's administration has announced a local holiday on Monday January 30th 2023. 

A notification from District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon said all public and private educational institutions, and office in Islamabad will remained closed on Monday January 30th 2023.

Reports quoted sources as saying that the holiday will be observed as United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be visiting the capital at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

March 22nd 2022: Rawalpindi

The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rawal­pindi Tahir Farooq has declared Tuesday, (March 22) as Public Holiday in territory of Tehsil Rawalpindi/ Rawalpindi cantonments on the occasion of the 48th session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) conference being held in Islamabad and 23rd March Pakistan Day Parade in the larger public interest.

March 21st - 24th 2022: Islamabad

People in the federal capital will enjoy a three-day holiday from 22nd to 24th March in connection with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid announced in a press conference.

The Federal Minister said there will be public holidays in Islamabad from Tuesday to Thursday (March 22–24).  

Pakistan is set to host the 48th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Islamabad on 22nd and 23rd March, which is expected to be attended by Foreign Ministers of all Muslim countries.

The public holiday in Islamabad has been announced in order to provide security arrangements to the Foreign Ministers attending the meeting.

December 20th 2021: Islamabad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a public holiday in Islamabad on Monday December 20th 2021 due to the security of various delegations of the 17th Extra-Ordinary Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Session who will be departing to their respective countries.

The announcement was made in a notification issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.

“During the meeting held at the Foreign Office at 1030 hours on 15th December 2021, it was decided to declare Monday, December, 20th 2021 as a holiday in Islamabad due to movement and security of various delegations of 17th Extra-Ordinary Session who will be departing to their countries.” said the notification.
