Cote d’Ivoire has declared Monday February 12th 2024 a work-free day to celebrate the Elephants’ African Cup of Nations (AFCON) victory.

The hosts defeated Nigeria 2-1 at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium on Sunday night to win their third AFCON title.

The Super Eagles went in front through defender William Troost-Ekong eight minutes before the break. But Emerse Fae’s side scored twice after the break through Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller.

The Ivorian government announced that there will be a trophy parade at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan.

President Alassanne Quattara and other top government officials are expected to be in attendance. The president is also expected to announce a cash reward for the players and their officials during the parade.
