A holiday as a mark of respect to Revenue Minister and IPFT Chief Narendra Chandra Debbarma

Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha announced a three-day state mourning s a mark of respect to Revenue Minister and IPFT Chief Narendra Chandra Debbarma who died on Sunday January 1st 2023.

Monday January 2nd 2023 has been declared as a public holiday in the state.

The 85 years old passed away in GB Hospital Agartala, defeating all efforts to revive him.

“We have announced three-day state mourning on the death of the senior most member of the Tripura state cabinet and Monday will remain as a public holiday. his last rites will be performed with full state honour”, said chief minister Dr Manik saha.

Chief minister Dr Manik Saha paid floral tributes to the Revenue Minister NC Debbarma at his own residence on Sunday evening.

The body shall remain at the minister’s residence on Sunday and will be taken for last rites after paying tributes at the civil secretariat on Monday.

Speaking to the reporters, Dr Saha said, “The news of the death of the senior leader and the minister is extremely saddening. I express my sympathies to the family members and well-wishers. May god give them strength to face the grief”.

Indicating the issue of separate Tipra Land demand by IPFT, chief minister Dr Manik Saha said, "Though he had a separate demand but sidelining that, N C Debbarma worked collectively in the ministry for the sake of people's welfare".
