Central government offices in Delhi and New Delhi, as well as Delhi government offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings under the Delhi government, will remain closed on September 11th, in view of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit being hosted in the national capital.
The Delhi government declared September 11th, which falls on a Friday, as a holiday through a notification issued by its general administration department on Thursday.
The decision was taken in view of the BRICS Summit and the arrangements connected with it, news agency PTI reported.
According to the notification, this holiday will apply to all government offices, autonomous bodies, and public sector undertakings under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Operations at these institutions will remain completely suspended for the day to prevent any administrative hurdles regarding VVIP movement, traffic management, and security protocols associated with this prestigious international summit.
September 8th - 10th 2023
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approves the proposal to declare a public holiday from September 8th - 10th 2023 in Delhi, in view of the G20 summit. All schools, govt offices including MCD offices will be closed on these dates.
All schools, offices of the city government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and private offices will now remain closed during the three days.
According to the proposal approved by the chief minister, all commercial and business establishments, including banks and financial institutions, located within the jurisdiction of the New Delhi police district will also remain closed from September 8th to 10th.
On August 18th, Special Police Commissioner Madhup Tiwari of the Delhi Police wrote to the chief secretary, suggesting the government declare a public holiday during September 8-10 and issue directions for the closure of commercial establishments located mostly in the New Delhi area in view of the G20 Summit.
