Amendments are to be introduced into several articles of the Constitution concerning Federal Structure, President of the Russian Federation, Federal Assembly, Russia’s Government, Judiciary and prosecutor’s office, local governance.

The document specifies provisions on social guarantees for citizens such as fixing of regular pension indexation and minimum wage.

The amendments also define children as the country’s wealth and places in the Constitution a provision reading that the state must create conditions for their cultural, intellectual, moral and physical development.

The current Constitution of the Russian Federation was adopted by national referendum in December 1993. Russia's constitution came into force on December 25th 1993, at the moment of its official publication, and abolished the Soviet system of government.
