In January 2021, the Jordanian government announced a series of event to mark the country's centennial.

Culture Minister Basim Tweissi, who is also deputy chairperson of the high committee of the centennial celebration, announced that April 11th 2021 will be observed as a national holiday, while April 16th will be marked as the National Flag Day.

Meanwhile, March 2nd will be observed as a national day for Amman, because it was the day King Abdullah I arrived in the capital.

“A special memorial statue will be erected in Mahata, which was the first place the late King Abdullah I reached when he came to Jordan,” Tweissi added.

Tweissi also said that there will be a special database that would archive the history of the country and the individuals who made a difference in the new country's history.

On April 11th 1921, the Emirate of Transjordan was established with Abdullah, a member of the Hashemite family of the Hejaz, descendants of the Prophet Muhammad, as Emir.
