  Summary

Punjab. Commemorates the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh's family in 1705.

Shaheedi Sabha is a three-day annual religious congregation organised annually in December at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, in the Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab, India.

It pays homage to the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s youngest sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, and their mother Mata Gujar Kaur.

Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh (aged 9 and 7 years respectively) along with Mata Gujri were imprisoned by the governor of Sirhind, Wazir Khan. He offered them treasure and easy lives if they would only convert to Islam, but they refused and stuck their faith in Sikhism. They were entombed alive by being bricked into a wall on December 26th 1705

The congregation used to be known as the Jor Mela. Then it became the Jor Mel. In 2018, the annual three-day congregation was officially renamed Shaheedi Sabha.
