Public Holiday in Ondo in 2022

As the inauguration of the Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, for the second term holds today, the state government has declared Wednesday February 24th 2021 as a public holiday.

This was contained in a statement by the state Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaye, titled, ‘Declaration of Wednesday, 24th of February, 202, as work-free day in Ondo State.”

The statement read, “The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has declared Wednesday February 24, 2021, as work-free day, being the inauguration day of Mr Governor for his second term in office.

“The accounting officers are to note the content of this circular and disseminate same to all the staff of their respective ministries, department and agencies.”

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress and Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has declared Friday October 9th 2020 as a public holiday for workers in this Nigerian state.

The Governor announced the decision ahead of the October 10th governorship election in the state.

Akeredolu in a statement released through the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, said the work-free day was “approved as such to enable workers to have enough time to embark on adequate measures aimed at preparing themselves for the Election.”

This will allow workers to travel to where they are registered to cast their votes.

The statement reads in part: “Eligible voters are advised to be law-abiding throughout the period of the exercise.

“They are equally encouraged to take maximum advantage of the adequate security measures already put in place to exercise their voting rights without any fear of harassment, intimidation and molestation.

“Governor Akeredolu wishes all stakeholders, especially our workers in the Public Service, the best of luck as they exercise their civic responsibility.”
