About Janam Divas of Bhai Jaitaji
In December 2021, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi declared a gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of Bhai Jaitaji during a function to mark the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur at Anandpur Sahib
Bhai Jeevan Singh, popularly known as Bhai Jaitaji, was born in 1661. He grew up in Patna where he got training in various weapons and learned the art of warfare. In addition, he learned horse-riding, swimming, music, and Kirtan
When Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth guru of Sikh, was martyred by the Mughals at Chandni Chowk, Delhi, Singh along with two other Sikhs, recovered his dismembered body from a Muslim crowd and brought it back to his son, Guru Gobind Singh.
Bhai Jaitaji was a Sikh general and companion of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru, during the evacuation of Anandpur Sahib and died in the Battle of Chamkaur in December 1704. Bhai Jaita Ji also wrote about the exploits of Guru Gobind Singh in his magnum opus “Sri Gur Katha”.
Bhai Jaitaji was honoured by Guru Gobind Singh with the title "Rangrete Guru ke bete".
