About Day of National Prayers

President Yoweri Museveni has declared August 29th 2020 as a day of National Prayers and Public Holiday asking the public to stay in their homes and pray.

"A certain Ugandan came to me and told me that God had told him in a vision that I should organise National Prayers, scientifically organised, for God to deliver us from COVID 19," said the President, on his Facebook page.

"Therefore, by the powers given to the President of Uganda by Section 2(2) of the Public Holidays Act, I declare the 29th of August 2020, a day of National Prayers and a Public Holiday. Stay in your houses or Compounds and pray," he said.

Museveni's announcement came shortly after the Ministry of Health reported 155 new cases of COVID-19.

The President says he has invited a few religious leaders to go to Entebbe State House and pray together with him and the Education Minister and first lady, Mrs Janet Museveni while the public watch on Television or by listening on Radios.

Museveni has appealed to all Ugandans to join this massive act of supplication, saying "Mushabe, muryaheebwa, musherure, muryazoora."
