When is State Visit by Chinese President?

YearDates
2019

The government has announced a public holiday for the second day of the two-day state visit to Nepal of the Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday October 13th 2019.

The Cabinet meeting on Thursday October 10th announced the public holiday for Sunday as per the proposal of the Home Ministry.

The public holiday is intended to ensure easy movement of Xi's motorcade through Kathmandu and to spare residents of Kathmandu from the consequent gridlock.

The Nepalese government has established a precedent of declaring public holidays on the visit of foreign heads of states, with Prime Minister Modi of India being afforded the same treatment a few years ago.
