History of the Birthday of the Sultan of Pahang
Sultan of Pahang is the title of the hereditary constitutional head of Pahang, Malaysia. The current sultan is Al-Sultan Abdullah ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Sultan Abdullah was proclaimed as the sixth Sultan of Pahang on January 12th 2019 replacing his father who abdicated due to ill health. Sultan Abdullah became King of Malaysia on January 31st 2019 when he ascended to the federal throne as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Prior to 2019, this holiday was observed on October 24th.
Pahang is the largest state, geographically, in eastern (peninsular) Malaysia and is one of several states that retain their own sultan.
