The Georgian government has declared January 1st - 10th as public holidays in Georgia for ‘reducing mobility’ in the country following confirmation of 24 cases of the new Omicron variant of coronavirus, Chief of the Operational Staff of the Interagency Coordination Council, Giorgi Gibradze, announced on December 24th.

He also noted that the decision applies to public institutions, saying that it is up to the private sector whether or not to observe the holiday. 

Easter 2021

The week following Orthodox Easter has been declared as public holidays in Georgia to curb the possible spread of the coronavirus. 

The interagency commission led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has also given out the recommendation to employers to move to remote work. 

The commission discussed the epidemiological situation in Georgia in a virtual meeting yesterday stressing the importance of public responsibility in maintaining health recommendations to avoid the so-called third wave of the virus.

In addition, according to the decision of the Council, based on the assessment of the current epidemiological situation, the restriction on movement from 21:00 to 05:00 will remain in force.
